From flower vases to magnets and coasters, here’s how to upcycle your leftover bottles
While we hope all empty bottles, caps and corks end up in the recycling bin (in true clean, green Kiwi fashion), upcycling is a great way to put them to good use.
Launch yourself into one of these projects and create something beautiful for your home.
1. Wrap bottles in twine
Grab some twine, scissors, a glue gun and a wine bottle (with label taken off). Begin at the bottom and work your way up. You'll end up with a gorgeous flower vases sure to brighten up any table.
2. Make little plant holders
Keep your corks for these dinky plant magnets. Succulents work best and make for a lovely gift.
3. Craft bottle cap coasters
Instead of flicking bottle caps into the bin, use them to create a drinks coaster.
4. Chuck in some fairy lights
Take off the wine label (soaking in baking soda and hot water works well) and turn the bottle into a mini light feature. Or simply use it as a stem candle holder.
5. Label your memories
This last one is a quirky, sentimental way to catalogue memories.
