New Zealand’s most experienced family-owned wine producer has been made Official Wine Partner of the 2019 ASB Classic tennis tournament for the first time
One of New Zealand’s longest-standing wine brands has been announced as the new Official Wine Partner of the 2019 ASB Classic tennis tournament. The tournament, which has been running since 1956, is part of the ATP (association of Tennis Professionals) Tour, which includes the Australian Open, Davis Cup, Wimbledon and the US Open. In the past the ASB Classic has hosted the likes of Rafael Nadal, Venus Williams, David Ferrer, Lindsay Davenport and Pat MacEnroe.
Babich Wines was established in Auckland in 1916 by Croatian emigree Josip Babich. The brand went on to become one of the country’s most established, with vineyards today that span both islands, in Auckland, Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough. As Official Wine Partner of the 2019 ASB Classic, Babich will supply all still wine served in all the venues and bars at the tournament, and there will also be a Babich Wine Bar on site.
It’s a fitting alignment for a brand that’s all about experiences. With 102 years of history and three generations of Babich winemakers, the company knows that experience counts. These exceptional wines are made to share and be enjoyed with friends and family at get-togethers and events.
And what an event this season’s ASB Classic will be. The line-up includes Wimbledon finalist and former world number five Eugenie Bouchard, Venus Williams and current Australian Open Champion and world number three Caroline Wozniacki in the women’s singles. In the men's singles highlights include world number 10 John Isner, former world number four Tomas Berdych, French “showman” Gaël Monfils and teen tennis prodigy Denis Shapovalov.
