Announcing the results of the only wine awards where the words “wow”, “awesome” and “yummy” are fully encouraged
“Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm” is not the kind of language you often hear from a wine judge, but then Liquorland’s Picked By You is not your usual wine awards.
OUTSIDE THE (WINE)BOX
Typically wine awards in New Zealand involve industry judges doing the voting in tastings, resulting in vintage, exclusive, limited-release varieties being awarded, which are only available for sale in small batches. This isn’t so great when you go into your wine store and can’t find the winning wines.
That’s why Liquorland decided to turn the typical wine award process on its head, making it more approachable, accessible, friendlier, and easier to relate to. And more importantly they chose the most discerning panel of judges available in the country – everyday Kiwis.
New Zealanders were invited to share their everyday favourite wine, their wine for a special occasion and why they like them. The resulting Wines Picked By You is a selection of the top New Zealand wines, as voted by you. Click here to find a list of the winning wines by varietal.
