A TOUR OF THE ESTATE

Learn about the "estate" approach to winemaking and the Australian company inspired by the French chateaux that produce wine this way

If you’re anything like us, your main focus when choosing wine is taste, price and label. But if you dive a little deeper you’ll find an interesting world with historical ties around the globe.

ESTATE KNOW-HOW

Old-world style wine estates in traditional wine-growing countries like France were established with the winery and vineyards in the same location. When you travel around such places, you’ll see huge wine chateaux dotting the countryside in regions like Bordeaux and Provence. Here, the winemakers had ultimate control over every aspect of their range, from the planting and growing of the grapes right through to the bottling.

CHATEAU AUSTRALIA

The Taylors Wines Estate range is dedicated to the founding of the Taylors winery in 1969 in Southern Australia’s Clare Valley, which was inspired by the large wine estate chateaux of the Bordeaux region of southern France, particularly the famous Chateaux Mouton Rothschild. Creating a winery overlooking its vineyards, the Taylor family established their wine label in this old-world estate style.

Now, due to the brand's popularity and quest for the highest quality grapes possible, the wines are still crafted and bottled on the Taylor estate, although not all of the fruit is grown there. However the same commitment to craft remains, a fact that's seen with Taylors Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz wines. These were the first varieties to be planted here by the Taylor family, and they remain two of the company’s most popular and awarded wines today.
