Spring has sprung, the grass is riz, it’s time to open a bottle of fizz. Ok, so the old poem didn’t go quite like that, but we think it should.
As spring and blossom festivals pop up around the country, it’s the perfect time to share a few drinks to help throw off winter and welcome in the new season.
One of our favourite springtime drinks is sparkling wine, which has the fresh and vibrant character to match all those daffodils and lambs springing about the place. To really capture the vibrancy of a delicate prosecco, there’s little you need to do except chill it right down and share with friends. Those wanting a quick and easy option can add a slice of lemon, lime or even orange, for a fruity edge.
Prosecco is great when added to cocktails, and can be found in everything from spritzes (the drink of this spring and summer) to classics like the mojito, where mixologists sub it in place of spirits for its light and crisp character.
