Top wine brand Stoneleigh has launched Stoneleigh Organic, a premium wine range that's certified organic and vegan, and made to enjoy.
Naturally clean, vibrant and complex the range features Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé and Pinot Noir at an RRP of $21.99. The new range delivers on great taste, they are delicious and distinctively vibrant, and are the purest expression of Marlborough & New Zealand nature, giving wine lovers a unique wine experience close to nature.
Stoneleigh’s ethos is simple: nature knows best. From the sunstones that ripen the grapes to the fertile soils hidden deep underground, Chief Winemaker Jamie Marfell says that “with a minimal intervention winemaking approach, we are able to craft wines that respect our organic terroir, with lifted aromatics and fresh, fruit-forward flavours”. The range is grown in living soil and has no synthetic herbicide or pesticide treatments, simply nature’s own solutions.
Stoneleigh Organic Pinot Gris 2020 is pale lemon-gold in colour, with fragrant aromas of crunch pear and apple skin, with a hit of rosehip lead you in. This medium-bodied wine is brimming with juicy orchard fruits, and as the wine opens up, hints of spice, dried figs and citrus peel emerge. This is a wine of elegant simplicity that's perfectly balanced and full of freshness. Serve well-chilled with fresh, simple dishes; salty aperitifs, olives and shellfish are a good match, as is an outdoor summer picnic. For something a little richer, try grilled pork loin in Dijon mustard and creme fraiche sauce, or salty cheeses like feta or halloumi in a salad, scattered with honeyed pecans.
Stoneleigh Organic Sauvignon Blanc 2020 is pale lemon in colour, with a powerfully aromatic nose of fresh passionfruit, capsicum, fennel and white pepper notes. These echo on the medium-bodied palate. Punchy flavours of citrus and green herbs complete this lively wine, sitting on vibrant fruit acids and leading to a persistent finish. This wine has a big personality; serve with a fabulous platter of cured meats and cheeses, or with fresh salads featuring citrus vinaigrette and green herb accents. Mild curries like Tandoori Chicken or Biryani is a lovely match for this Sauvignon Blanc, as are seafood dishes like grilled fish fillets or prawns, served with a squeeze of lemon. Tomato dishes work well too; try with a pizza on takeaway night!
Stoneleigh Organic Rosé 2020 is a delicate tea-rose pink colour. It opens with a burst of juicy red fruit aromas: strawberry, cranberry and raspberry sorbet with carry through to the palate. Vibrant acidity is enhanced by a creamy texture and notes of vanilla pod. The wine culminates in a mouthwatering finish, with hints of white peach. Try pairing the Stoneleigh Organic Rosé with a warm goats cheese salad, scattered with toasted almonds, or a feast of delicious fresh crab with lemon butter and sourdough. This versatile wine will be at home with Chinese food such as hoisin pork and crunch Asian slaw, or a fresh fruit dessert with whipped vanilla cream.
Stoneleigh Organic Pinot Noir 2019 is a sultry shade of magenta colour in the glass. First aromas are smoky and savoury, with dark fruits showing next. Blueberries, figs and raspberry compote are complemented by toasted vanilla and allspice. This medium-bodied palate has fantastic tannin structure, and the fruits are joined by dark chocolate and mocha flavours. The Pinot Noir has a persistent finish of rich fruits and leather. Unlike some Pinots Noir, this wine is very versatile, and will pair just as well with a smoked salmon pasta as with slow-cooked beef cheeks. Try with mushroom or truffle-accented dishes, or grilled foods, to accentuate the earthy notes. Finish with an aged Gruyere for a match made in heaven.
