TAYLORS ‘THE VISIONARY’ CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The story: A wine created by third generation Taylors winemaker Mitchell Taylor as a tribute to his grandfather, founder Bill Taylor Senior’s vision when he established the winery in 1969. Inspired by the great wines of Bordeaux in France, particularly cabernet sauvignon, Bill Taylor Snr planted these grapes as the first vines of the estate.

The wine: The Visionary Cabernet Sauvignon is a Clare Valley Australia rendition of a Bordeaux wine, made with the absolute finest grapes. Deliciously dark red in colour, you’ll find flavours of blackcurrant, dark cherry and unusual mint characters, with a pleasingly smoky, charred oak and coffee follow through.

TAYLORS ‘THE PIONEER’ SHIRAZ

The story: Eager to make his mark and with plenty of vision himself, second generation Bill Taylor saw the rising popularity of shiraz wines, and insisted a block of shiraz grapes be planted on the Taylor estate. This pioneering spirit and drive to be different paid off, and today Taylors shiraz wines are among some of the most recognized globally.

The wine: The Pioneer Shiraz is exceptionally sought-after wine, only released in small quantities when a vintage is deemed exceptional. It is a deep crimson wine with flavours of dark berries, spicy fruitcake, chocolate and coffee, and tannins (the pleasing chalky texture you get in your mouth) that the varietal is known for that coat your mouth like velvet.
