The pop of a cork is such a satisfying sound, but having to throw those beautifully crafted, natural corks away always seems like such a shame. Luckily, American retailer of objets d’art, Design Within Reach, has come up with a solution – The Champagne Chair Contest.

Now in its fifth year, Design Within Reach challenges anyone with a leftover champagne cork, a pair of pliers and an Instagram account to come up with the best design for a tiny chair. Many of the entries are visually stunning and use other leftover parts of the champagne bottle as well – now that’s what we call upcycling!
