This Champagne Brand Is Scooping Up Major Awards

If there’s one Champagne house you should have on your radar it’s Louis Roederer, which is killing it right now and grabbing more awards than an Adele record

Louis Roederer is a Champagne brand that flies elegantly under the radar, but that doesn’t mean it escapes the attention of the wine industry and particularly the experts that judge the world’s best wines every year.

THE AWARDS

2018 was huge for the brand, beginning with being named ‘World’s Most Admired Champagne Brand’ by industry bible, Drinks International, who noted Louis Roederer’s constant commitment to making outstanding wines while continually improving quality, despite already being “at the peak of their game.”

But that’s not all, late last year Louis Roederer scooped the table at The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships, held in October, winning eight of the 25 trophies on offer (and only about 12 of those they were actually eligible to enter!). Those accolades include:

  • Supreme World Champion
  • Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year
  • World Champion Classic Brut Non-Vintage Blend
  • Best French Sparkling Wine
  • Best Non-Deluxe Champagne
  • Best Deluxe Champagne
  • Best Champagne

In addition Louis Roederer was awarded Gold Medals for three of its Champagnes at the New Zealand International Wine Show 2018.

GET TO KNOW THE BRAND

Founded in 1776, Louis Roederer remains to this day, one of France’s last great independent and family-run Champagne houses, and is currently in the care of the seventh generation of the same family. From the early days the house had a commitment to quality, choosing to nurture and cultivate its own vineyards on the finest land, rather than buying in grapes from outside, a common practice then and now.

Today, Louis Roederer Champagnes are 100% organically grown and the vineyard is increasingly moving towards biodynamic production, which Drinks International says generates more freshness, chalkiness, intensity and complexity in the wines.
