Scapegrace Gin and Wellington Chocolate Factory have combined New Zealand's finest gin and dark chocolate in a limited-edition chocolate bar
Throw together a top New Zealand gin, and a really good chocolate, and what do you get? A match made in heaven. Scapegrace Gin and Wellington Chocolate Factory have created a limited-edition chocolate bar that brings together Scapegrace's signature citrus notes of dried orange and lemon peel, and Wellington Chocolate Factory's Peruvian and Dominican cocoa.
It's the first time Scapegrace gin has been used to create a chocolate bar. Mark Neal, Scapegrace's Marketing Director, says they hypothetically knew chocolate and gin could work well together, but it wasn't until all the delicate flavours were combined that magic was made.
"In making the bar, we took the backbone of our signature gin, which includes pine notes of juniper and the slightly spicier/sweet notes of coriander, and layered the chocolate with our signature citrus flavours. The result is a smooth, rich citrus juniper flavour that takes you on a real flavour journey."
The chocolate bar delivers all the flavours in a surprising way, using ingredients not usually associated with chocolate. Starting with the Dominican and Peruvian chocolate base, you quickly taste juniper, nutmeg and coriander, finishing with orange and lemon peel.
