Tequila tour

Start me up: the tequila tour of 1972

It all started with a sunrise.
A tequila one.

It was 1972. The flares were wide, the fake eyelashes were long and the Rolling Stones were beginning their American tour. As the Stones settled into a wild night at a San Francisco Bay Area bar, they requested that their bartender, named Bobby Lazoff, create them something a little different. Something unique.

What resulted was the Tequila Sunrise, a magical cocktail of orange juice, grenadine and tequila that fast became the “tour pick” of the most ground breaking rock tour of all time.

A private plane filled with various celebrities adorned with the iconic Rolling Stones tongue zipped the Stones and their Tequila Sunrises through the skies while the media watched and reported in awe.

Thanks to Jose Cuervo, history will always remember the legendary Tequila Tour of ’72.
