Canadian Whisky

Over Beer? Refresh your drink

When Canadian grain merchant Hiram Walker founded what would become Canadian Club in 1858, he could never know how popular this giant whisky brand would become

Over beer? Try something a little different.

Like all good drinks, Canadian Club has a history. Hiram Walker & Sons Limited established the first Canadian Club distillery in Walkerville, Canada, because the quality of local grains were exceptional.

The first Canadian Club whisky, Canadian Club 1858, proved very popular in Canada and America - in America it was considered particularly special, because it was sold exclusively in the finer gentlemen's clubs of the era. Soon, the whisky came to be known by the name 'Club Whisky', eventually cultivating popularity around the world.

Soon enough, Club Whisky's popularity became problematic, affecting the sale of American bourbon in the US. The US government decided all Canadian distillers to put the country of origin on the label - and so Club Whisky became Canadian Club. And from there, a legacy was launched.
