Halloumi Fries with Lemon & Lime Aioli

Ingredients

  • HALLOUMI FRIES:
  • 2 packets halloumi
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun spice
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup fine breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup panko crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • oil for frying
  • LEMON & LIME AIOLI:
  • ¾ cups garlic aioli
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice & zest
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice & zest

Serves: 4

  1. Slice the halloumi into thin sticks (like French fries) and pat dry on paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, celery salt and Cajun spice.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs until foamy.
  4. In the third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, panko crumbs and cumin seeds.
  5. Dip each halloumi chip into the flour first to coat, then the beaten egg, and lastly, the breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat a generous amount of oil in a shallow pan and fry the halloumi for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Combine the aioli and citrus juice and zest.
  9. Serve the halloumi fries warm with the zesty aioli.
