Beer Gravy

Ingredients

  • Leftover juices from your roast turkey or chicken
  • flour, a few tablespoons
  • 250ml beer
  • 250ml chicken stock
  • salt and pepper, to taste
Don't forget the gravy! Add the finishing touch to your Christmas turkey or chicken dinner with this secret ingredient – beer!

Note: We used Heineken in this recipe because the sweet malty cereal flavours and hoppy bitterness really give the gravy good body and depth.

  1. Get those juicy pan drippings over a medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of flour for every 2 tablespoons of drippings.
  2. Stir (or whisk) until smooth.
  3. Gradually add 250ml of beer and 250ml of chicken stock.
  4. Continue stirring until thick, and then add salt and pepper to taste.
