Golden Bay-based Dancing Sands Distillery has come away with a clutch of medals for its gins at the 2020 NZ Spirits Awards - including a very special Double Gold.
Golden Bay distillery Dancing Sands has won three awards at the 2020 New Zealand Spirits Awards, including a Double Gold for their innovative Wasabi Gin. The Wasabi Gin is one of just two gins in New Zealand to be awarded top honours this year.
The New Zealand Spirits Awards are a celebration of spirits in New Zealand, aimed at acknowledging and rewarding the very best in local and international spirits commercially available in New Zealand. Dancing Sands CEO Sarah Bonoma says the award means even more because the competition is local to New Zealand, where there are some delicious and innovative spirits being created.
"We are absolutely thrilled to be awarded one of only two Double Gold medals awarded for gin in this year's competition," says Dancing Sands Distillery's CEO, Sarah Bonoma. "We've won our fair share of awards since we launched Dancing Sands, but this one is extra special because we're competing with our peers. There is some fantastic gin being made in New Zealand, so this is a very proud moment."
As well as the Double Gold, Dancing Sands also took silver for their Barrel Aged Gin, and Bronze for their Dry Gin, the distillery's first gin.
