Steinlager's Classic Challenge

At the heart of Steinlager is the idea of challenge. Even after over half a century, some things never change.

In 1958, the infamous Black Budget cut beer imports. The challenge was put out to New Zealand brewers to produce a lager of international quality - and so Steinlager Classic was born.

Internationally recognised with countless awards on the world stage, Steinlager Classic has a robust hop nose of fresh-cut green grass and a full flavour delivered by the Green Bullet hop, grown in Nelson at 41 degrees latitude, the perfect hop-growing location.

The body of Steinlager Classic delivers a full flavour that is perfectly balanced with a dry, tangy finish and crisp, clean bitterness. New Zealand's top premium beer, Steinlager Classic happily heads up the Steinlager range, which includes Steinlager Pure, Pure Light, Pure Ultra and Steinlager Tokyo Dry.

Steinlager has always been uncompromising; the brand's mantra is 'Keep it pure', upholding the fierce belief that when brewing a beer, you have to stick to your principles if you want to achieve great results.

Steinlager Pure uses a selection of New Zealand's finest hops, including a new variety called Pacific Jade, which was specially commissioned by Steinlager. Pure Ultra delivers the smooth, refreshing taste consumers rely on, and uses the same Pacific Jade hops, while containing 50% less carbs than the Classic.

Steinlager Tokyo Dry is a collaboration between New Zealand and Japan; it celebrates what can happen when you pair a country with a proven reputation for natural quality, with a culture renowned for its attention to detail and precision. Green bullet hops, pilsner malt and natural, refreshing water is paired with Japanese brewing mastery to create a smooth, refreshing super-dry lager that's clear, crisp and still unmistakeable New Zealand.

It's a range that has earned its place at the top of New Zealand's beer chain. But for Steinlager, there's always more to do. Today, Steinlager continues to rise to the challenge, proving that as a nation, we can take on the world.
