FESTIVAL BEERS TO TRY AT GABS AUCKLAND

Every year, GABS put the call out to the industry to create something special for GABS Beer, Cider & Food Fest – and you get to try it

Almost 100 brewers and cidermakers from all around New Zealand and Australia will be featuring their offerings at GABS' two Husky Container Bars on June 29 at Auckland's ASB Showgrounds. They see GABS as an opportunity to be creative, to push boundaries, and to showcase their talents. These beers and ciders are unique, one-off’s, limited releases, and exclusive in every sense.

Here are a few stand out beers to try:

Behemoth Brewing Co (with Fix & Fogg Peanut Butter)
THE FIX (CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER IMPERIAL STOUT)

STYLE: Imperial Stout ABV: 8.5 %
CHARACTER: Roast (Soft & silky)
COMPLEXITY: Adventurous
A collaboration with Fix and Fogg Peanut Butter, it’s like eating chocolate peanut butter right out of the jar.

Tuatara Brewing Co (with Duncan's Brewing Co & Dark Horse Coffee)
THE SHEFFIELD STREET COLLABORATION

STYLE: Belgian Quad ABV: 10.5 %
CHARACTER: Fruit/Spicy (Dark)
COMPLEXITY: Adventurous
Using Dark Horse Coffee post fermentation, this is a Belgian Quad that has complementary coffee notes to go with its malty richness and spicy esters.

Emerson's Brewery
COLLOIDAL HAZE

STYLE: New England IPA ABV: 7 %
CHARACTER: Hop (Juicy & hazy)
COMPLEXITY: Stepping up
A colloid is a mixture in which one substance of microscopically dispersed insoluble particles is suspended throughout another substance. Or in this case “a hazy hop bomb”.

Panhead Custom Ales
WHAM BAM THANK YOU NAM

STYLE: Sweet Stout ABV: 8 %
CHARACTER: Roast (Soft & silky)
COMPLEXITY: Adventurous
A night out in Saigon is something everyone should experience, but if you can’t make it to the streets of Vietnam, then this beer will take you there. Vietnamese coffee is used in the process, and it's served with a few drops of sweetened condensed milk.
