Liberty Brewing Co is shaking up the beer scene with brews that refuse to compromise on quality and flavour. We take a look at their story and some of our favourite Liberty brews
In the past six venturesome years, Joseph and Christina Wood have taken their delectable Liberty brews from their garage in New Plymouth to all over New Zealand.
When Joseph first began playing with home brewing in 2010, the first beer he brewed was a Weizenbock. The result was amazing (especially considering he was only using easily obtained ingredients, which back in the day wasn’t much). A couple of years and a fair few brews later, Joe and Christina discovered places like the Cock and Bull, Hallertau and Shakespeare Hotel and Brewery in Auckland, and it dawned on them that they weren’t the only people in the entire world who put a priority on full-flavoured beer. This inspired them to work even harder on their beers.
With demand for Liberty beer continuing to outstrip supply, the Woods finally built their own brewery in Helensville in 2015.
Liberty’s brewing has always been about its customers and as long as there are boundaries to cross, rules to break and lines to blur, Liberty will be central, continuing to brew with zero compromise on quality.
